Does anyone know a lawyer who can defend my case for an auto collision that was my fault?

Judy C asked:

Hello – I am looking for a lawyer who can provide me a defense against a car accident I was involved in. It turned out I did not have insurance at the time of the accident. I need someone from Toronto preferably. There are a lot of lawyers who deal with the plaintiff only, I am the defendant in this case. Thanks so much for any assistance!!

You should look in the Yellow pages or whatever equivalent you have in Canada. In the USA there exist special referal services which can hook people up with an appropriate lawyer or attorney. Canada, which has a much more extensive social service program than the US has, most surely has such a referal service. As I’m not a Canadian, I’m not sure what the Canadian version of this lawyer referal service is called. You should search online like this “Legal Aid, Toronto” or “Legal Referal Service(s), Toronto (Canada) and you should quickly find what you need. But I’d bet $1000 that Toronto has such a service! But even if they didn’t, all you’d have to do is call a known attorney like out of the phone book, even if another type like a real estate attorney and ask “Do you know a good civil attorney who specializes in vehicle accidents? or Do you know of a Legal Aid or Referal Service in this area?” and I bet they’ll have some good info for you. Lawyers refer each other all the time. My father was a defense attorney (criminal law) and just about all lawyers in his area just about belonged to the same golf club and knew each other! He wanted me to become a lawyer. Mom wanted me to become a doctor. I ended up a botanist, composer, writer and philosopher [interpreted usually as "bullshit artist".]
