1. look one up in phone book
2. call him
that simple!
Look in the phone book or online for a personal injury attorney in your area. Some state bars certify people as specialists so you can look on the state bar website. (Just google or yahoo your state name and the words “bar association”. If you weren’t injured though, you will have to pay fees.
Contrary to what one person said here, I’ve come across plenty of claims adjusters who jerk people around in order to get them to go away or settle for less.
If it is just property damage, you can handle that yourself. Remind the adjuster that she has to pay you for every day you don’t have a car (it’s called loss of use), as well as storage fees for your car. Sometimes it’s easier to go through your own insurance and let them battle the insurance company. But you aren’t likely to get loss of use or storage. Check kelly blue book online to get an idea of what your car is worth. Many adjusters try to low ball you on settling your claim.
Tell the insurance company you’ve sought legal advice. (Hey, I’m a retired lawyer, so it counts.) You can also threaten to report them to the insurance commissioner. There are rules they have to follow and this one probably isn’t.
And go to the police department where it happened and file a report.
there is obviously something “fishy” about your claim that requires more investigation, adjusters don’t just give people the run around for the fun of it…if you wanted rental car coverage you should have purchased it…if you get an attorney the insurance will no longer communicate with you and the attorney will get 30-40% of whatever you receive from the insurance company and they won’t be able to speed things up any faster
think twice before you hire an attorney
You’ll have a difficult time finding an attorney that is willing to take a case with only property damage. There’s no money in it for them.
Why not go through your own carrier and let them handle the liable carrier for you? They can repair you vehicle, get you back on the road.
