Was in car accident need help?

holmesla327 asked:

I was in a car accident back in December. I was not at fault and have sustained injuries. So far I have about $10K in medical bills, and $2500 in car damage. The car damage payment has already been paid. I am still seeking medical treatment. I am not getting a lawyer at this time, though I have spoken with one and he said if I need money for future medical, than I will get one at that time. (I have two years to settle from the time of the accident) The insurance company needs copies of my bills. What all can I send him other than prescriptions, medical bills, and OTC stuff as a result? Can I send phone bills (I only have a cell phone so my minutes are waisted trying to contact them), mileage to and from appointments, the cost to copy and mail the bills? What can I charge them for all this? Any advice would be apprecited! Thanks!
My car insurance agent is worthless. They helped me with nothing throughout this whole accident process. So I did drop them and went with Progressive. We are actually dealing with the at fault driver’s insurance agent.

What does your car insurance agent say?

You’re agent should be able to help with that. If unwilling to help get a new company pronto.

I was in a similar situation myself. I do advise you to get a lawyer if you would like to collect $ for future medical bills. I did and it came in very useful. If the Allstate Insurance company is involved, I highly recommend you seek legal council immediatly. You should send COPIES of the bills to YOUR insurance company(or your lawyer), and keep originals for your records. Send copies of all medical bills, milage costs, ambulance fees, rental car fees, perscriptions and OTC stuff. I hope you kept your reciepts!
Anything you send to the other insurance company can (and probably will) be used against you as evidence. When and if you get a lawyer, stop any contact you have with the other insurance company. Tell them they have to go through your lawyer. This will ensure you don’t say anything they can use against you in a court of law.
Your Dr. will give you a disability rating after your physical therapy is over, and that percentage will play a big part in determining your settlement.

At least the person that hit you had insurance. We were hit head on by an un-insured motorist, and it’s been over 2 years, and we’ve yet to see any money in compensation for the truck, medical, or anything else.

You should be able to send mileage for the appointments, but I would also check to see what they want.

I don`t know all your answers but I`ll tell ya what I do know.with an attourney, most of the time your pain and suffering payment is around 3 times your dr.bills.so lawyers will tell you don`t call in for meds! GO to the dr`s. yes keep up with any out of expences you may have. But an attourney would raelly help

REPORT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO YOUR LOCAL INSURANCE BOARD.

THEY HAVE TO ANSWER BY LAW ALL COMPLAINTS THAT ARE FILED BY THE CONSUMER.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL YOU PAPERWORK BECAUSE THE INSURANCE BOARD WILL ASK YOU FOR THIS.

You should send the insurance co any bills that you receive for xrays, meds, visits, tests, then you can also send the receipts for copies that you paid for, mileage, copies of your phone bill showing where you made the calls to the ins co., receipts for postage.

The purpose of Insurance is cover any injuries of damages because of the inccident/accident that occurred. So you should get monies for anything that you were billed BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT.Things that you wouldn’t normally have to pay if the accident had not occurred. And it has to be related to the accident. So yes,OTC drugs, phone bills..etc..count.
