My roommate is being charged with a Class C Misdemeanor, a traffic violation for failure to report an accident. She’s hired an attorney who was recommended by her friend, and coincidentally this is the same guy her dad recommended. He says that it’s highly unlikely that she’ll get jail time because it’s her first ever offense, and he can make it so that she doesn’t have to do community service or get her license taken away. Can a lawyer really be that good? If so, how does he go about convincing a judge of this? AND, if he prevents all of that what happens to my roommate, the charges are dropped or she has to pay a fine? I just don’t want her to get her hopes up.

I was hit from behind in my car and as a result my car was totaled. The police report says it was the fault of the other driver and his insurance company has already sent out a guy to look at my car. It has been approximately 45 days since the accident and the other guys insurance company says it needs a “statement” from their driver, who is not cooperating and has been unreachable since the accident. My lawyer even gave me a ballpark figure that the insurance company was talking about but, says that I must wait on them to reach their driver. Well if the other driver never shows up how long do I have to wait to get the property portion of the claim, that is to say when will the company have to legally pay for my car?

I got into a car accident in CA and was living in CA at the time. About 6 months later I had to move back to NC. I still live in NC. Before I got into the accident I had broken my spine. THe day I got into the accident was about 7 months into healing of my spine. I am still going through therapy and seeing the dr. I didn’t have apid like I did before the fusion (after the accident if got worse) My question is, I have been told that I have to get a lawyer from NC and CA to file suit against the insurance company. I have medical damages from that accident. I will eventually have to have another fusion of my spine done as well because of that accident. But, if I get both lawyers that will kill any amount of money I get from the insurance. WIth some fees as small as 25% I had heard and some more plus fees. It will leave me with nothing. Well something but nothing comparibly to what the lawyers get. I have heard that some lawyers will pay out of their fee if another lawyer is needed. HELP

I got into a hit and run accident 5 weeks ago. I didnt see the van but it hit me and my baby one the side and threw me into 2 other cars. One in which was a cadillac escalade. Anyways to make a long story short my car was totaled and the baby was okay in the end. As for myself i suffered a dislocated hip, back pain and some other minor injuries. So anyways there were witnesses that saw the accident and knew the guy. It just so happen it was a company vehicle and the detectives caught up with him later. They called me and gave me his name and company phone number. Now my problem is my lawyer sent him a letter requesting his insurance company, but the owner refuses. My lawyer told me if he doesnt get his insurance company in 10 days then they will drop my case. Also i cant file it on my insurance because it had lapsed 2 days before the accident. (i know thats bad) but im still a victim in this accident. So does anyone know how i can find out his insurance company. My lawyers are lazy.
I already called and asked. He says he doesnt want to give it to me.
I got a police report, but since it was a hit and run accident it wasnt on there. Later when they caught up with this guy the detectives called me and just gave me then phone number.

The friend told me everything and since I told her I wasn’t getting a lawyer, I guess she spilled the beans. I feel like this situation is unfair because now my car and another car are totalled. She told me things that were not told to the police like why her kids left the scene(they were not seated properly didn’t want a ticket), she was in a rush to get where she was going, the car in front of me was all behind her car, which caused me to slam on my breaks. The 2nd car was really at fault but I got ticketed.

Few days ago, I was on my way to school. I was waiting for green light and all of a sudden this car hits me from behind. She called the police and they came but they didn’t take a report, instead they wrote a paper called Accident Information Exchange.
I’ve already contacted my insurance agent, and a lawyer, but someone told me that because I don’t have a police report, the other driver could lie about what happened.
Is it possible??
when it happened I was completely stopped. the other driver rear ended me like 20 secs after I’ve been waiting for the green light.
I live in so cali by the way, if it makes any difference.

In June 4 2004 I was involved in a car accident. No summonses were given to any of the parties involved. I was driving my sister’s car, which at one point was living at the same residence as I reside in but moved out by January 2002. She open her policy sometime in 2001 and may have forgotten to declared me as a licensed driver living in thehousehold(not sure what was omitted). In 2006 I was served with a civil lawsuit. I turned the lawsuit papers over to her insurance company, by this time she had a different insurance company. They assigned a lawyer to be my defense counsel and deal with the suit. Sometime in July 2007, my sister insurance notified me that they were not going to be responsible for any liability cost or any future legal cost. The letter stated that they were now in 2007 voiding my sister policy dating back to February 2002 and gave no explanation as to why. It said I could appeal but the appeal’s process is ridiculous because is conducted by someone that works for
them actually by the same person who denied coverage the first time. Now I have to get a lawyer to defend me and try to get the insurance company to act responsibly as well as a lawyer so that they stop giving my sister the run around by not providing her a copy of her policy to see what section allows them to void the policy. By the way my sister had other claims that they answer for and they also collected almost 4 years of premiums. Are they allowed to do this and what can happen to me if I was unable to afford legal representation?
