my cuz is getting charge for a violent crime he didn’t commit but his friend did.. his friend is nowhere to be found and they already charge him and sentencehim to 2 years in ny state prison and 2 years probation after he gets out.. the laywer told him even if he didint do it they goign to charge him because they are accusing him and there is no way to prove different if he take it to trial he can get up to10 to 14 years.. so it jsut better to plead out guilty.. for the best.. now he is in jail only 19 and feels he is going crazy because he is in jail for soemthign he didn’t commit.. he can ttake it and he only have 2 months in there.. can he appeal even thought he pleaded guilty?? his lawyer say don’t waste his time .. what kind of lawyer is this??? do anyone know what he should do we dont have any more money for another lawyer?? where should we start to see if he can appeal>….

by hucklebe- first thing first am not child or wasting my time reading comments like yours..2nd.. you can say the truth hurts because you don’t know what i know and you can’t judge anyone just by the small paragraph. second of all he was not with his friend when it happen.. 3rd you so childish talking about getting in knees this and that maybe is because you been in that situation..so if you dont have nothing positive or normalllll to say just dont write at alllllllllll.
Is this lawyer trying to trick me?
I’m being sued by State Farm Insurance Co. for an accident that was labelled as my fault. My insurance company provided me with a lawyer. At first, the lawyer said that they agreed on a settlement amount. A month later, she called me and said it was incorrect; the other party was willing to settle for double that amount. I agreed again and haven’t heard anything. She said that the first amount was ‘a miscommunication’. How do I know she is operating in my best interest and not trying to milk me for more money to benefit herself/someone else? What do you think?
How do you hire a divorce lawyer when you have no money?
My husband has cheated on me and I need to hire a lawyer in order to protect my interests and those of my son… but I don’t have any money. My husband made the money and I stayed home with our son. Recently he’d told me to leave the house so I left with our son and moved in with my parents. We didn’t have any savings and there’s barely anything left in our checking account (he’s still left me on our joint checking account so that I can withdraw money as needed to pay for food or clothing, etc).
We’ve been married about 3 and a half years. Our son is 2 years old and I’m also worried about custody. I live in Arizona, the Phoenix area. Is my best bet to go through friends and to see if they can find a lawyer they know who would take me on pro bono, or are there free services out there for people like me that I’ve never heard of?

This is kind of complacaited and long but I’ll try my best to keep it short with most important fact. Bro.died with no will,wife,or children.Surving family, 2 sisters and mom. Bro. owed 20.ooo. in debts. Credit cards, one secured loan with motorcycle. Owed home 48,600.00 financed for 50,000. Family all in agreement to let Niece do simple assumption that Laweyer agreed too.He said house wasn.t invilved in estate. Niece quit job and moved 2000 miles to assume loan that was approved by bank because it was a VA loan. 2 special needs children,single mom, explainded to lawyer and he said No problem.After 6 months he said he misplaced assumtion papers and he decided that there might be equity inthe home and it had to be sold Daughter stopped making payments on home after I told her he was going to sell the house. I told lawyer we would have to take funds out of estate account and pay morgtage. He said NO! The house has been forclosed on.Daughter is still there with children.Was He wrong?
He did take his fee out of the estate fund.I did settle one debt that he had with the motorcycle credit card with my own money and they withdrew there claim. He said I,m not suppose to pay anything out of the estate fund’ He even told me that I can’t work out a reduced amount with the credit card companies.Has he broken Ethics Law ? Can he be held accountable. He never returned or said he doesn’t remember the social security form I gave him for my mom being Benificiary to my brothers last check.. There’s so much more that he’s done or not done that is very questionable. It’sbeen15 months of Hell and I’m emotional worn out. I am the Beneficiary. House was in Brothers name only.There is Not enough assetts to pay off the debts’ They are all medical and mis. credit ards. Unsecured’ My biggest problem with him was advising daughter to assume the loan and then keeping the papers, changing his mind and not allowing me to make morgage payments through estate account to keep the house from going into forclosure. He never put anything in writing and I never asked because I thought he was a friend trying to help me. Also ,this was the worst and most emotional time in my life . So much so that I even considered joining my Brother. I know that’s selfish now,but you don;t know how close we were. He was my LIFE. Thanks again

Maybe something good will and can happen if it’s not to late. I just sent my lawyer a certified letter yesterday and fired him. I know this is not the religious site but any prayers woud help. My grandaughter is 10 years old that is living in my brothers house right now and she has emotional problems and has had since 5 years old .tried to kill herself 3 times in her 10 short precious years. She is on medication but I’m terrified what this might do.She needs any prayers that anyone will have for her . Thanks again and I’ll try to hush for now.

Here’s the deal. I am a subcontractor that has done about 3 months worth of work for a general contractor. He agreed to pay be at a daily rate of about 0 when we first agreed to work together. He has paid me for about a quarter of the work I have done for him.

public defendant vs. regular lawyer?

our son is waiting for his arraignment next week. And we are looking for a lawyer. We are wondering what the difference is between a public defendant assigned by the court and a regular lawyer. I understand they’re both lawyers however are public defendants less experiences? Are these positions assigned to new lawyers? We won’t have any money so a public defendant is a likely option however we want the best possible representation for our son. He is being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. NRS 199.480.
Also how long do these cases usually take..is a regular lawyer going to cost too much? or we just pay them when they represent our son in court?
we are new at this. Please give us some piece of mind.

In an elder case who determines when a person is not competent enough to make the right decisions?
I am in the care of a lady who Social Services is trying to say isn’t capable of making the best decisions for herself. She is a little forgetful but by no means to the point of not knowing what’s going on. Social Services is trying to get a family in with them to take over her wishes and declare her incompetent. I am in the process of getting a lawyer to try to help her. I also have recently gotten power of attorney over her. What will it take to get Social Services off our backs and let this lady live her life the way she wants? She has been taken advantage of by her son who had previous power of attorney and her money misused leaving her with some financial problems. I have gotten them under control now and have kept her at my house until this is settled. I also care for my mom who has been a long time friend of hers. Her family and DSS just want to put her in a nursing home and sell her house. She wants to live in her house. How can we get them to see she is alright?

(By the way this settlement is coming from a car accident i was in which was not my fault…. A woman hit me head on and shattered my femur and totaled my car)
Oh yeah and by the way if it helps I live In Ohio, the car accident happened in Ohio, both people involved in the crash are from Ohio, and both insurance companies innvolved in this settlement are from Ohio because i know laws differ from state to state. Dont know if that information will help you guys in your answer but i figured id let you know.
Here is the letter i received:
Dear Paul:
I have tried calling your home and cell phone with no luck. Please get to me the information requested in the enclosed letter from Allstate. We have a check in our office for ,500.00 and need the enclosed information before we will receive the remaining ,500.00 from Allstate.
You will need to stop in the office and endorse the check so we can deposit it in our trust account until the claim is settled.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
Heres the deal… i am going to go get all of my medical records that my lawyer requested today (from the hospital and medicaid). So what that letter is trying to tell me is that once i take this medical documentation into his office and endorse the check i will be able to get some of my ,500.00 if not all of it.
I was just curious as to whether or not my lawyer could legally hold my ,500.00 in his trust fund just so he can draw interest on it? I mean i know the money is there and i know it is mine (all accept the surplus ,500.00 that is being held for medical records/bills) so is he really allowed to hold the money that is not set aside for medical bills in his trust fund just so he can draw interest and extra money from it because i know that is what will be done with it.
I have talked to a couple people that just got settlement money and they said their lawyers told them that the money was in his "trust fund" but they also told me that when they told their lawyer that they know the money is theirs and is their for them that their lawyers would give them some if not all of what they ask for to catch up on bills or what not that occured while they were down due to their accident.
So PLEASE help me out here guys i dont want to have to wait on my money any longer than i absolutely have to because since my car accident i have been unable to work and everything is going to hell…. just need to know if my lawyer is trying to screw me so he can draw interest on my money or if i should be able to receive some if not all of my ,500.00 check that is already on my lawyers desk… PLEASE Help me out here guys

should i get a court disposition or call the investigating srgt?
my money was taken from my wallet by the srgt and well my lawyer released it. turns out the srgt didn’t release it yet. so should i get a court diposition or should i call him to release it? the thing is he’s lazy and has a i dont care attitude. so what is the best thing to do?
