I got into a small accident the other day, I rear-ended somebody but it was just like a tap and there was no dent or scratch on her car.
I was behind her at a red light where you’re allowed to do right on red. She like edged forward like she was gonna go but then stopped and I had starting moving too and did not stop in time. I felt the bump, but like I said, there was no damage at all to her car, or mine.
But she called the cops anyway.
So anyway there is a a court date in about a month. If the lady doesn’t show then I get my license back and that’s that.
But I’m worried that she will show and make up some lie about how there is damage to her car.

So anyway my question is what exactly can she do to me? Like sue me or just make my insurance go up?
If she claims that I damaged her car would the judge just make my insurance pay, or do they actually check it out to make sure that she’s telling the truth?
….And if she doesn’t show at court will my insurance still go up?
Oh I have a licence. The cop just takes your license when you get a ticket. And you use your ticket as your license untill you the actuall license back.
No the cop said there is always a court date if there is an accident reported to the cops. And the defendent has to go. But the women doesn’t. I’m just afraid she might lie and say there was damage cuz she seemed really pissed off.
on my ticket is says “following too closely”

But I think he just gave me the ticket cuz he had to. He told me not worry about anything.

I’m 24 yrs old and just got into my first auto accident. Beside the other financial drama going on in my life this was the last thing I needed. I had the right away (green light plus the arrow) no other traffic was moving besides my lane. I wasn’t speeding because it was raining and I basically crap myself when it’s raining outside so I was doing 5 below the speed limit. When I made my turn a guy with his little Mercedes did not yeild to the right away and made a turn to try to make it into the parking lot, He did this as I was hitting the corner. When I saw him making that quick turn I hit my breaks my car slid and went right into the side of his.
To make a long story short and skip past the drama of the accident…I told my side of the story…my passenger told his side of the store and gentleman of the other car told his side of the story (which he told wrong on 3 different occasions) the officer found the gentleman of the other car at fault and he was ticketed.
Here is the worst part. About a month or so back I had to go to court for a suspended lisence and the court gave me a paper which stated that my lisences was reinstated…the officer did not give me a ticket for this because it showed in his system that I was never notified of the error (I had the paperwork from the DMV).
Also…I did not have any insurance because it had lapsed…(I kinda didn’t admit this to the officer until after the gentleman was gone) The officer did give me a ticket for no Liability Insurance.

My question is…Am I responsible for the gentlemans damage even if he was found at fault?
I have insurance now but would it be best to start looking into lawyers?
Also since I didn’t have insurance (at the time) would be a good idea to go after him for the damages done to my car or just not push my luck?
